Please consider the garments finished measurements listed below when selecting the size for your child’s handmade item. These measurements are un-stretched (i.e. with the garment laying flat on a table).

Taking your child’s measurements with a soft, dressmaking tape is ideal. Or using a piece of ribbon or string, which you can then hold against a ruler, will be most accurate.

Alternatively, if would like us to use a different waist and leg measurement, please let me know in the notes section during checkout and I will be in touch with you via email to confirm the best size for your purchase.

Care Instructions

Our Fabrics
Lace and satin, by nature, are delicate fabrics that are best treated with care.  It is common, particularly with satin, to see ‘shifting threads’ or spots that appear inconsistent. These can usually be massaged gently back into place between your fingers, and will often return to their original place in the fabric weave after a gentle cold water wash.

We suggest that your little one’s bloomers, playsuit and/or ribbon belt be put into a washing bag or pillow case, and washed in cold water, on a gentle or delicate cycle.

We also recommend that they are dried flat in the shade, or turned inside out and hung half over a line, out of the sun. Pegging some of the more delicate bloomers from the waist may encourage the lace to droop or sag. Do not tumble dry your lace bloomers, playsuit nor your ribbon belt.

We recommend that you do not iron the lace. You may use a warm iron on the reverse side of the bloomers if you feel it is required. The ribbon belt may be ironed at a cool temperature.

Eighteen Fifty One products are designed to be worn as daywear for babies and children. Your child should not be left unsupervised while wearing their bloomers, playsuit nor belt, as the ribbons may cause entrapment or strangulation if not tied securely. Eighteen Fifty One products should never be worn as sleepwear.

Fabric Availability

All Eighteen Fifty One releases are limited edition. Some styles may only be made in a handful of pairs, and usually there are no more than 10 in each lace and colour combination.

In the event that two or more customers place and order for the last of a particular lace (and my website oversells the lace) I will allocate the remaining lace to the customer who placed the first order (as shown by the times listed in my order management system) and contact subsequent customers so that they may either select an alternative fabric, or arrange a refund.

In some cases I may be able to source more of the same lace and I will let you know as soon as possible.
